Man arrested in connection with armed robbery at DeLand convenience store

Incident happened around 1 a.m. Wednesday at DeLand Circle K

DeLAND, Fla. – Volusia County Sheriff's Office deputies announced Friday that an 18-year-old suspect from Lake County has been arrested in an armed robbery that occurred Sept. 18 at a DeLand convenience store. 

Investigators said Jonathan David Rodriguez, 18, and Darious Lamonte Lovette, 17, carried guns into the store around 1 a.m. and demanded money from the store clerk.

The pair wore masks to cover their faces, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Rodriguez and Lovette took an undetermined amount of cash, according to investigators.

Deputies said the two men took other items from the gas station and left in a silver Jeep SUV.

"Our detectives went to Lake County and interviewed Rodriguez, who confessed to his part in the Kangaroo store robbery. Rodriguez remains in custody in Lake County on several charges," officials said.

Rodriguez is being held on a $25,000 bond for the Kangaroo case.

A warrant has been issued Lovette ,whose address is listed in Groveland. Authorities are considering him armed and dangerous.
