Macy's to open stores hour earlier on Thanksgiving

Some U.S. locations to open at 5 p.m. on holiday

While some stores are now promising to stay closed on Thanksgiving, Macy's is doubling down on keeping its stores open on the holiday.

A report says that the department store giant will not only open on Thanksgiving, but do so an hour earlier.

BestBlackFriday.com reports that at least five Macy's locations will open at 5 p.m. on Nov. 24. The new time would be an hour earlier than when the stores opened in 2014 and 2015.

None of the stores currently scheduled to open at 5 p.m. are in Florida.

CNBC says that Macy's did not respond to their request for comment.

Other retail stores like HHGregg, IKEA and Nordstrom say they will remain closed on Thanksgiving due to falling sales on the holiday, while the Mall of America in Minnesota, the largest in the U.S., will shut its doors.
