10-year-old boy gives up Christmas gifts to help others

Boy writes Santa to say he doesn't want any presents

STRAWBERRY PLAINS, Tenn. – A young boy in Tennessee is proving that it really is better to give that to receive. The 10-year-old is forfeiting his Christmas gifts in order to help others.

When Houston Leadbetter was asked to write a wish list to Santa, the boy shocked his family by saying he didn't want any gifts.

Instead, the elementary school student said he wanted to make sure every child gets a holiday present.

With the help of his family, Leadbetter is now collecting shoes to donate to those who are less fortunate.

Leadbetter says he plans to give those shoes to local elementary and high school students.

Despite his gesture, his family says Leadbetter will still have plenty of gifts under the Christmas tree.
