Most people can find at least one thing in their homes they’d like to change. Check out the eight most popular items homeowners wish their homes had, according to a survey by The Demand Institute and Realtor.org.
Energy efficiency: Seventy-one percent of those surveyed put energy efficiency on their wish list.
Renovation ready: About 75 percent of those surveyed said their homes needed repairs of some kind, including painting, new flooring and remodeled kitchens and bathrooms.
Remodeled kitchen: Sixty-two percent surveyed said they’d like an updated kitchen and new appliances.
Accessibility: As many homeowners start to age, 76 percent of those asked said they’d like repairs made to make their homes more accessible so they can stay in their homes as they get older.
Cheaper home: About 20 percent of those surveyed wanted a more affordable home.
Safety: Of those surveyed, 22 percent said they’d like to increase their home’s safety.
Storage space: About 55 percent of those asked said having enough storage space in their home was important.
