Seminole County school district to appeal opt out ruling

County joins 3 other counties fighting decision

SANFORD, Fla. – The Seminole County school district has joined the fight to appeal a judge's ruling regarding standardized testing in Florida.

A judge in Tallahassee ruled last week that it is illegal to hold children back from fourth grade for not taking the state's controversial Florida Standards Assessments.

According to the Orlando Sentinel, the school district is arguing that the judge improperly heard the case.

In addition to Seminole County, school districts in Orange, Hernando and Broward counties are also appealing the decision.
