Find out why these children are dressed as 100-year-olds

Orange County mayor reads to students

ORLANDO, Fla. – Students in an Orange County Head Start program dressed as 100-year-olds on Friday as they celebrated the 100th day of the school year.

Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs joined the students as part of Literacy Week and a "Let's Read" initiative.

Jacobs read "Where the Wild Things are" to the children at the Taft Neighborhood Center for Families on South Orange Avenue.

Jacobs said reading helps set children up for success.

The "Let's Read" program aims to improve literacy by providing 1,000 new library cards to Orange County residents.
