15-year-old student accused of threatening Timber Creek High School

More deputies at school as precaution, officials say

AVALON PARK, Fla. – Extra security will be added at Timber Creek High School in Avalon Park on Monday after a 15-year-old student made an online threat, according to officials.

Orange County Sheriff's Office deputies were notified by school administrators of a written threat at 6 p.m. Sunday that was made on the social media app Snapchat.

"District Police and our law enforcement partners have identified the student who made the post and action was taken," Timber Creek High officials said in a Facebook post.

According to the incident report, the student posted a photo on Snapchat of his left hand as a firearm and wrote "pew pew." Text on the photo read "Don't come to school tomorrow."

A 15-year-old student admitted to making the post, deputies said, and was arrested and charged with making a felony threat to kill, injure or conduct a mass shooting.

The student, who News 6 is not identifying because he is a minor, was taken to the Orange County Juvenile Assessment Center Sunday night.

"Parents, please remind your student that they can report any threats to an adult at school or call the SPEAKOUT hotline at 800-423-TIPS. If you have any questions please feel free to email me at kelly.paduano@ocps.net," officials said.
