ORLANDO, Fla. - Dozens of parents in Orange County talked with school leaders Monday night about a proposal to rezone some of the district's schools.
The plans would alter zoning for up to 15 elementary schools and five middle schools, affecting thousands of students. Many of the parents at the meeting, however, say they're against the idea.
"People buy homes to go to certain schools," John Connell said. "I want (my daughter) to go to the same school her sister went to, have the same teacher, like when I was a kid."
Orange County Public Schools says rezoning would help relieve overcrowding at the affected schools.
The school board plans to meet again Dec. 14 to discuss its options and move forward with a plan.
