Apopka Edges Dr. Phillips 15-14 Thanks To 2-Point Gamble

Blue Darters Win On 2-Point Conversion, Game-Ending Interception

September 16, 2016 – Apopka Head Coach Rick Darlington's 4th quarter gamble paid off.

The Blue Darters rallied from a 14-0 halftime deficit and defeated Dr. Phillips 15-14.

After Apopka's Demetri Burch scored to cut the Panther lead to 14-13 in the 4th quarter, the Blue Darters lined up seemingly to kick the extra point.

Dr. Phillips bit and Apopka faked.

Holder Demetri Burch pulled up the football, tucked it, and ran it in for a successful 2-point conversion and Apopka's first lead of the game.

The Blue Darters held on to it thanks to an end-of-game interception in the endzone by Jarvis Ware.

Apopka, which improved to 4 & 0, travels to University Orlando next week.

Dr. Phillips, which dropped to 3 & 1, visits powerhouse Mainland.
