Mardi Gras float rolls out in Titusville ahead of weekend parade

Sand Point Park hosts inaugural Mardi Gras parade Saturday

TITUSVILLE, Fla. – Brevard County residents are getting a taste of the French Quarter this weekend. A family-friendly Mardi Gras parade happens Saturday, beginning at 5 p.m. at Sand Point Park.

"It's going to be a huge thing," said Risa Pinto, with Knight Enterprises on Columbia Boulevard in Titusville.

Pinto said she and 11 of her coworkers spent 230 hours building a float that will roll in Saturday's parade.

"There's a fair and booths and a parade. It's going to be a lot of fun, a big party," she said while showing off the company's float.

Jeff Boucher with Knight Enterprises will represent his company as the king of the float.

"We'll be throwing out beads, throwing out coins," Boucher said.

Sponsored by News 6, the Mardi Gras festivities will feature several area companies and organizations.
Boucher said the excitement is building around town.

"It's causing a big buzz and everybody is excited about it," he said. "You see Mardi Gras parades on TV, but it's actually cool to be part of one."
