Orlando-area theme parks reopen doors after Hurricane Irma

ORLANDO, Fla. – Several Orlando-area theme parks reopened Tuesday after Hurricane Irma ravaged the state, forcing all of them to close for days. Other area outdoor attractions sustained damage and will be closed until further notice.

Here's a list of the major theme parks and recreation centers and their status as of Tuesday:

  • Universal: Open. HHN will run this weekend, as planned. See ride closures on app.
  • Disney: All parks and Disney Springs are open. Magic Kingdom Jungle Cruise will closed due to Irma cleanup. Animal Kingdom's Planet Watch, Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail and Kali River Rapid will remain closed Tuesday. Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground closed until further notice, including Hoop-de-Doo Musical Revue and Mickey’s Backyard BBQ.
  • SeaWorld: Will reopen Wednesday.
  • Gatorland: Will reopen on Wednesday at 10 a.m. with regular hours.
  • Orlando Eye: Closed. Assessing any potential damage.
  • Orlando Science Center: Open.
  • WonderWorks: Open.
  • FunSpot America: Opening Wednesday at 2 p.m. 
  • Legoland: Park, water park, hotel closed due to no power.
  • Wekiva Island: The recreation complex and bar suffered severe flooding and will be closed until further notice.
  • Harry P. Leu Gardens: The 50-acre gardens sustained significant damage from Hurricane Irma and will be closed until further notice, garden managers said.The Leu House Museum was damaged when a large branch landed on it, officials said.The Garden House Welcome Center remains open for classes and meetings.
