Little Caesars debuts 'the Pizza Portal'

Company plans to add 100 devices at stores

Picking up a Hot-n-Ready Little Caesars pizza will soon become easier, as company officials announced the Pizza Portal, a self-service mobile pick-up station, USA Today reports.

To order a Reserve-n-Ready pie, customers can place an order and pre-pay using the Little Caesars mobile app. The app will notify the customer when the pizza is ready. When the customer gets to the store, they can skip the line and go to the Pizza Portal, then enter a three-digit code or scan a QR code to open the secured door for their pizza, a company news release says.

"It's cool," Little Caesars CEO David Scrivano told USA Today. "It's all about convenience, in and out in seconds, no line, no wait."

The machine debuted Monday at more than a dozen Tucson, Arizona, locations on Monday. The company plans to add about 100 Pizza Portals throughout the U.S. in 2018, the USA Today report says.

Officials with the Detroit-based pizza company hope the machine will boost sales and create a need for more jobs.

"This will augment our staff," Scrivano said. "There will always be counter people."
