General Mills is removing genetically modified ingredients from its original Cheerios.

The change came after pressure from consumers and activist groups.

The new boxes of Cheerios will be labeled as "not made with genetically modified ingredients" and should be on grocery store shelves soon.

Original Cheerios are already made with non-GMO oats, but the company says it's now also using non-GMO cornstarch and sugar.

The change does not apply to any other Cheerios flavors.
