'A Gift For Teaching' Pencil Boy Express makes first stop of school year

Pencil Boy Express mobile free store making two stops weekly for teachers

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – Now entering its third year, Pencil Boy Express, the mobile version of A Gift for Teaching's free store, is on the road once again.

We caught up with the Pencil Boy Express on its first stop of the school year at Meadow Woods Elementary in south Orange County.

The convenience of shopping for free school supplies right outside their classrooms is a heaven-sent time and money saver for the teachers.

"I got colored pencils, markers, notebooks. It's so nice. You're able to have supplies for the students who don't come with things. 'Oh, Ms. Roman, I don't have a pencil, OK, I have one. And it's not coming out of my own pocket, which is a real blessing because, over time, you spend a ton of money," Teacher Ashley Roman said.

In addition to having Pencil Boy Express, A Gift for Teaching also offers an online store called Pencil By Online to reach more teachers with students in need. Pencil Boy Express mobile free store will be on the road once or twice a week, visiting schools and hot spots to help teachers shop for supplies all school year long.
