LAKE COUNTY, Fla. - On Tuesday, News 6 reported on Holly Montz's story. Thieves broke into her Lake County home and stole wedding bands that belonged to her and her late husband.
Jared Jewelers heard what happened and within 24 hours had promised to replace the priceless bands for Montz. It was an act of kindness that Montz says helps end her year on a good note, after losing her husband, Matt Montz, to cancer in August.
Holly Montz said her late husband had designed her ring himself at Jared's.
"He just put so much love and thought into this ring and it represented us, our love, our marriage and our family and they took it," she said.
A representative from Jared called Holly Montz the day after the News 6 story, saying the company would replace the custom jewelry.
"It's going to be even more special because people are so sweet that they are replacing it, so it just added more meaning to it," she said.
Matt Montz's wedding band was from Zales and, as a sister company, Jared will work with Holly Montz to make a new custom band.
Jared released this statement to News 6:
"Thank you Channel 6 for sharing your story about Mrs. Montz. When our teams at Jared and Zales learned about the loss of her husband and their rings, we wanted to do something special for her. We hope the new rings will bring Holly special memories for many years to come."
The rings are expected to be ready next week. Holly Montz said it's going to be one more thing to be thankful for on her first Thanksgiving without Matt.
