Getting Results: Local wedding planner saves day

ORLANDO, Fla. – Last November, News 6 investigator Mike Deforest introduced viewers to Amber Maxwell, a bride-to-be.

Maxwell told News 6 she had paid thousands of dollars to a business called Savannah’s Grand Ballroom and Dining, but received nothing in return for her wedding.

The wedding and catering business was owned by Angela and Bruce Cordrey, the proprietors of several defunct companies, records show.

"If I hadn't caught this until the end, my wedding day would've been ruined," said Maxwell. "I probably wouldn't have a wedding day."

Fortunately, News 6 viewer and wedding planner Annie Muniz was watching the night her story aired.

"We took a chance and called Channel 6, and 20 minutes later we got a call from Amber and Sam," said Muniz.

Muniz, who runs Modern Chic and Shabby Events By Annie, said she spent about 150 hours planning the perfect wedding for the couple. She donated her services to the couple at no cost and many of her vendors gave large discounts.

"Everybody just came together for them," said Muniz.

For her selfless act, Muniz is this week's Getting Results Award winner.

Congratulations, Annie Muniz!
