Officials report 4 new cases of Zika likely contracted through mosquito bite

New cases confirmed in Miami-Dade County

The Florida Department of Health on Tuesday said it has identified four new cases of Zika virus likely contracted through mosquito bite.

Officials said they still believe active transmissions are occurring within the one-square-mile area in Miami-Dade County. Details were not immediately available.

The new cases bring the total number of local transmissions of Zika to 21. Earlier Tuesday, a baby born with microcephaly caused by Zika died in Texas.

Meanwhile, 14 new travel-related cases were confirmed, including four in Miami-Dade County, three in Orange County, two in Hernando County, one in Broward County, one in Lee County, one in Monroe County and two involving pregnant women.
