Marion County to vote on medical marijuana moratorium

Commissioners to consider 180-day delay

MARION COUNTY, Fla. – Marion County could become the latest Central Florida county to put the brakes on plans for any medical marijuana dispensaries.

Commissioners are scheduled to vote Tuesday on a 180-day moratorium on accepting applications.

The move comes after Orlando city leaders voted to extend its moratorium on dispensaries until July 2017.

Supporters of the delays say it will give governments time to figure out exactly where shops will be allowed to open following the passage of Amendment 2 earlier this month.
