New rules coming for smoking, vaping at Orlando airport

Designated areas to be at ends of walkways

ORLANDO, Fla. – Greater Orlando Aviation Authority, which oversees Orlando International and Orlando Executive airports, will discuss changes Wednesday to the smoking and vaping policy at OIA.

Currently, smoking is permitted outside Levels 1 and 3 for anyone not near entrances.

OIA spokeswoman Carolyn Fennell said smoking will soon only be allowed in designated areas, which will be located curbside at the end of walkways. The same rules will also apply for vaping, she said.

"We are re-evaluating and moving to designated smoking areas at the ends of the curbs due to public requests. This will continue to keep us compliant with Florida law and will provide compliance with our certifications," Fennell said.

The meeting is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
