Salvation Army, ICON Orlando team up for Red Kettle ride

Group hopes to raise money for families in need

ORLANDO, Fla. - The Salvation Army will host a charity event Tuesday called "Salvation, Donation, Rotation."

Capt. Ken Chapman, of the Salvation Army, will ride ICON Orlando, formerly the Orlando Eye, on International Drive from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. in an effort to raise money for the group's Red Kettle campaign.

Tip jars will be placed at the entrance of the Eye for donations of $25, $50 or $100 to ride with the captain. A website will also be available for any donation greater than $100.

Fifteen people can ride in a car during a 25-minute rotation on the giant wheel.

A quartet will also be on hand playing holiday music.

Those who cannot make the event are asked to make a donation at salvationarmyorlando.org.
