The cast of CBS’ upcoming Star Trek: Discovery hit the red carpet this week in Los Angeles for the premiere of the new series spinoff.
Celebrating alongside the new cast were original stars of the sci-fi franchise, including William Shatner and Nichelle Nichols.
“An actual fact — I haven’t stopped celebrating...Star Trek in 50 years,” Shatner told Inside Edition of how the series continues to find new generations of viewers.
Nichols echoed his statement, saying, “It is just the most wonderful thing in the world. It’s incredible and people love it."
The new series will boldly go where no Star Trek show has gone before, taking place before the events of the original series that aired more than 50 years ago.
Star Trek: Discovery also features the franchise's first female African-American lead, Sonequa Martin-Green of Walking Dead fame.
“I am so exhilarated," she told Inside Edition on the red carpet. "I am thrilled. It’s finally here."
Leslie Moonves, chairman and CEO of CBS, and wife Julie Chen were also on hand for the big premiere.
The new show debuts Sunday on CBS, then look for the rest of the series to stream on CBS All Access.
