Firefighter pays family's electric bill

A Clinton Township firefighter helped a family with their electricity bill after falling behind due to medical bills.

Ryan McCuen responded to a 911 where a man with muscular dystrophy is on a ventilator keeping him alive. The power was out in the home.

He realized the power was out because the family owed DTE more than $1,000.

McCuen paid the bill in full.

“You could tell they’re honest folks and it just seemed right,” McCuen said. “You don’t do it cause it makes you feel good, you do it cause it makes a difference.”

A GoFundMe was started to help the family.
