1 dead, 1 hurt in separate Jacksonville shootings

Police say shootings were robbery related, may be linked

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Police in Jacksonville say one person died and another was injured in separate shootings.

The Florida Times-Union reports a shooting occurred early Monday at a CVS drug store in Jacksonville. Police spokesman Sgt. Shawn Coursey says one person, believed to be a store employee, was shot during a robbery and is being treated at a hospital.

Investigators also say a worker at Mojo BBQ a few blocks away was shot to death during an apparent robbery early Monday. Police believe the two robberies could be linked.

Coursey says workers had the front and rear doors open at the restaurant so they could "access their equipment" when the robbery occurred.

Police have not released names of the victims.

No further details were immediately available.
