Witness tells News 6 moped split in two

ORLANDO, Fla. – A man was killed and another critically injured after the moped they were riding crashed into a Lynx bus, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said two men were riding a moped without headlights on around 12:45 a.m Saturday.

The men were riding south on Pine Hills Road while a Lynx bus was traveling north, troopers said.

The bus driver, who troopers said was unable to see the men on the moped, tried to make a left turn onto Indian Hill Road when the moped struck the front right of the bus, according to the Highway Patrol. Both men were ejected and the moped was split in two, a witness told News 6.

Both men were taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where one was pronounced dead and the other was critically injured, troopers said.

The three people who were on the Lynx bus during the incident were not injured, troopers said.

The crash remains under investigation.
