LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. - Deputies say the 13-year-old boy who was pulled by a vacationing firefighter from a Disney World Hotel pool has died.

Deputies said Anthony Johnson, 13, died Tuesday morning after the Sunday incident.

Disney released a statement Tuesday afternoon, saying "We are saddened by Anthony Johnson's passing and our hearts go out to his family, friends and loved ones. We have reached out to his family to offer care and assistance during this difficult time."

Buffalo firefighter William Cybulski, who was vacationing at the Pop Century Resort in Disney, showed Local 6 where the boy was swimming Sunday night in water no deeper than 4 feet.

"The boy was pulled out over here, I was over at the bar watching the game," he said. Cybulski said he then ran over to the pool and what he and his girlfriend witnessed was a 13-year-old boy blue in the face and unconscious.

Cybulski 's girlfriend, Crystal Loschiavo, told Local 6, "I just heard someone say 'call help, call for help.'"

Cybulski gave the boy CPR as Loschiavo helped keep the family calm.

"I never want to see something like that especially on vacation, much less to a child," he said.

Loschiavo says just as her boyfriend was checking for the boy's pulse and working with other vacationers, she pulled the children to the side, including the boy's brother.

"The little boy was really upset that that was his brother, he kept saying 'this is my only brother, this is my only brother I don't want anything to happen to him,'" said Loschiavo.

The lifeguards at the Disney pool leave at around 8 p.m., but the pool stays open, according to the family.

Disney says lifeguards being on-duty depends on the time of year and pool type, but that there is always a sign posted that says no lifeguard is on duty.
