Deputies: Woman ejected from flipped SUV

DeBARY, Fla. – A 19-year-old Deltona woman was killed Sunday in an early-morning crash, the Volusia County Sheriff's Office said.

As Otway was driving north near the 470 block of South Shell Road, the SUV veered off the road, hit a curb and veered back onto the road, deputies said. The vehicle crossed the road before flipping on its side, then rolling onto the roof in a parking area, the Sheriff's Office said.

The vehicle rolled over again and landed on the passenger side, authorities said.

Deputies said Otway, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the SUV. She was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash by Orange City Fire Rescue officials, authorities said.

South Shell Road was shut down for nine hours following the crash, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Investigators said the cause of the crash is still unknown.
