$1M in metal stolen from Orange County schools; 2 arrested

Raymond Lindsey, Otis Jackson face charges

ORLANDO, Fla. - Two men were arrested on allegations of stealing more than $1 million worth of metal from an Orange County school storage area.

Raymond Lindsey, 48, and Otis Jackson, 53, were arrested over the weekend in connection with the thefts, which started in January 2011.

According to authorities, the men stole the metal over the course of at least 60 trips to the storage area.

Detectives said the duo profited at least $43,000 by selling parts for handicapped ramps to a recycling plant.

The Orange County School Board said the metal was from old portables and does not have to be replaced.
