Charges pending in crash at Lake Underhill Road, Pinar Drive

ORLANDO, Fla. – Two people were killed when a motorcycle collided with an SUV at an Orlando intersection Saturday afternoon, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The crash happened around 1:50 p.m. at the intersection of Lake Underhill Road and Pinar Drive.

Troopers said the SUV was stopped at a red light on northbound Pinar Drive as a motorcycle was heading east on Lake Underhill Road; the light was green for traffic on Lake Underhill Road.

At some point, the SUV attempted to make a left turn to head west on Lake Underhill Road. Troopers said the SUV pulled out into the direct path of the motorcycle.

The front of the motorcycle struck the left side of the SUV, troopers said.

The operator and passenger on the motorcycle were pronounced dead, according to the Florida Highway Patrol's report. The SUV's driver was not injured.

Troopers said the crash remains under investigation and charges are pending.

Lake Underhill Road was closed following the crash, the FHP said.

A road maintenance crew was working near the intersection, troopers said.
