OCALA, Fla. – Two dogs were rescued by firefighters after a car smashed into an Ocala home Saturday, Marion County Fire Rescue personnel said.
Units were dispatched after 2 p.m. after the vehicle crashed into the occupied residence in the 3900 block of SE 17th Court.

The 911 caller reported the car had crashed into the neighbor's apartment, officials said.
A black sedan was found three-quarters of the way inside the bedroom of the apartment. Officials said the driver and passenger got out of the sedan on their own.
Firefighters found the homeowner's pit bull lodged underneath the car and the bed, officials said. The animal was not injured.
Officials said a 2-week-old pit bull mix was found in the car and returned to the owner.
The driver and passenger of the car were evaluated by paramedics at the scene and refused any further treatment, officials said. An occupant of the home, who will be staying with friends in the neighborhood, was unharmed.
Officials said the cause of the accident remains under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.
