Privately owned helicopter crashes into trees in Eustis

EUSTIS, Fla. - At least two people were injured in a Lake County helicopter crash on Friday, fire officials said.

Lake County Sheriff's Office said the privately owned helicopter took off from Umatilla Airport Friday morning and was flying over property in the 22000 block of on Curle Road when the pilot encountered engine problems.

The helicopter crashed into trees on the property and the two adult males on board were extricated, deputies said.

The victims were airlifted to an area hospital as a trauma alert.

A fuel leak was secured and no property damage was reported, according to fire officials.

The Federal Aviation Administration was notified.

No other details on the crash were immediately available.
