2-year-old Florida boy becomes unresponsive after eating pot brownie, deputies say

Suspect charged with child neglect, marijuana possession

MARION COUNTY, Fla. – A 2-year-old Florida boy became unresponsive after eating a pot brownie on Thursday, according to the Marion County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said they were called to a home in Dunnellon and found the toddler unconscious. The boy was given CPR, then stabilized and taken to an area hospital for further evaluation, a news release said.

Andrew Frazier, 26, told deputies that he made a batch of marijuana brownies, then left them unattended for a few minutes while he walked into another room, which is when the child ate one of the brownies, according to authorities.

Deputies said they searched the residence and found more than 260 grams of marijuana, a glass pan containing several marijuana brownies, marijuana pipes and a marijuana grinder.

Frazier faces charges of child neglect, possession of marijuana and possession of drug equipment.

He's being held at the Marion County Jail on no-bond status.
