Man-of-war wash up on Brevard beaches

Lifeguards warn swimmers about potential stings

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – Numerous man-of-war, a jelly-like marine invertebrate, have washed ashore Friday in Brevard County.

Lifeguards said the man-of-war will sting upon contact, but swimmers on the beach said they were not concerned.

Lifeguards said the marinelife is being blown into the surf and onto the beaches by strong winds from the east.

Officials advise beachgoers to avoid contact with the jellyfish-like creatures.
