Cocoa residents to get sound wall

Residents have complained about noise for years

COCOA, Fla. – Families living along Interstate 95 in Cocoa will soon sleep a little easier.

Work will soon get underway on a new sound wall, Florida Today reports.

Residents living along Lincoln Road, near State Road 520, have complained of noise for years.  I-95 runs less than 30 yards from many of their homes.

Work was put off, but now the Space Coast Transportation Planning Organization has made construction its No. 1 priority this year, the paper reports.

The project is estimated to cost $1.5 million to $2 million, according to TPO officials.
