5-year-old shot inside Winter Garden UPS Store

Police say boy accidentally shot himself after grabbing pistol

WINTER GARDEN, Fla. – A 5-year-old boy is recovering after accidentally shooting himself inside a Winter Garden UPS Store.

The shooting happened around 11:45 Monday morning at the UPS Store at 13750 W. Colonial Drive.  According to Winter Garden police, the boy took a pistol off of a counter and pulled the trigger. 

Investigators said the bullet hit the boy in his left arm.  The boy's father was in the store at the time and immediately took his son to the hospital.  There were other customers inside at the time, but no one else was hurt.

Police are still investigating to determine if criminal charges will be filed.  The UPS Store is owned by the grandfather of the victim.
