MELBOURNE, Fla. – A 19-year-old Melbourne supermodel is the new cover girl for the 2012 Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition.
Kate Upton was born in Michigan but grew up in Florida and considers Melbourne her hometown.
The new cover was unveiled last night on The Late Show with David Letterman.
"That was one of the first photos from the first shoot. It was my favorite swimsuit. … I felt sexy in it, but confident," Upton told Local 6 News partner Florida Today, referring to the cover shot.
Upton was chosen as the "rookie of the year" in last year's edition.
