Horse rescued from thick mud in Volusia County

DELTONA, Fla. – Authorities rescued a horse that had escaped in Deltona overnight and was found stuck in thick mud Thursday morning.

Officials said they found the horse off of Doyle Road in Volusia County. It took approximately three hours to lift the horse out of the mud, with multiple agencies responding.

The horse is expected to be OK.

It's not clear how the horse got out or where it came from.
