Bystanders rescue man, dogs from burning car

Car crashes into ditch in west Cocoa, catches fire

WEST COCOA, Fla. – A 57-year-old man and two dogs were rescued from a burning car Sunday night in west Cocoa.

According to Local 6 News partner Florida Today, the victim's green Honda Accord crashed into a ditch on Friday Road, just north of State Road 524 and west of Interstate 95, around 6:20 p.m. and caught fire.

Troopers say bystanders saw the flaming car and rescued the man and dogs from the wreckage.

The victim was flown to Holmes Regional Medical Center, where he's in serious condition.

The Florida Highway Patrol is now investigating the crash.
