Charges pending in wreck

SANFORD, Fla. – One person was critically injured Monday morning in a four-car crash in Seminole County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The crash happened just after 7 a.m. at State Road 415 and Celery Road in Sanford. Troopers said the 18-year-old driver of a Chevy sedan was driving southbound on State Road 415 when he drifted into northbound lanes and sideswiped another car. 14-year-old Kyra Quinn was laying in the backseat without a seatbelt and was ejected from the car. She is currently at Orlando Regional Medical Center in critical condition.

The driver, Chad Hendrix, is at Central Florida Regional Hospital with serious injuries. The other people in the two other cars involved had minor injuries or none at all.

Authorities originally told Local 6 News that there was one fatality in the crash.

S.R. 415 was closed in both directions, and Celery Road was closed in the area for hours as crews cleaned up thousands of roofing nails that one of the vehicles involved in the crash was carrying.

Charges are pending, troopers said.
