2 dogs die in house fire
Sunday morning fire kills family pets
ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – Orange County firefighters were called to a fire that severely damaged a home in the Conway Village community.
Firefighters said they responded to 3219 Burchfield Avenue around 7:20 a.m. Sunday when 911 calls started to come in.
Neighbors said they banged on the door of the home to alert anyone that may have been home, firefighters said.
Fire officials said when firefighters got to the house, they could see smoke and flames coming from the garage, completely destroying it.
A person inside the home was able to escape without injuries, but firefighters had to rescue a hamster and guinea pig from inside, officials said.
Two small dogs were also rescued, and although firefighters were giving them CPR, the dogs died as a result of their injuries, officials said.
Firefighters were able to limit damage to 50% of the home and will remain on scene to protect property and limit further damage.
The State Fire Marshal has been called to investigate and the family of five has found temporary housing.
