Police: Band members capsized Lake Eola swan boat
Dave Matthews Tribute Band members arrested on grand theft charges
ORLANDO, Fla. – A tribute band faces grand theft charges after police say the group of three capsized one of Lake Eola's iconic swan boats in downtown Orlando over the weekend.
Orange County Corrections Department officials said Carlton Newcomb, Ryan Clifford and Derryck Gleaton were all arrested early Saturday morning. The three are members of The Dave Matthews Tribute Band, which according to the band's website, says they played at The Abbey in Orlando on Saturday.
According to a police report, the park manager found a swan boat capsized in the lake. The boat was equipped with an engine, battery and electrical wiring which was all submerged under water.
The park manager, Chris Wallace, estimates the boat is worth an estimated $10,000. Wallace told police the boat was secured to a lake dock with a lock on Friday and no one had permission to remove the boat from the dock while the park was closed.
The three were charged with grand theft and being on park property after hours.
