Mystery bullet misses sleeping hotel guest

Brevard deputies investigate shooting near Indialantic

INDIALANTIC, Fla. – Brevard County sheriff's investigators continue to search for clues after a bullet flied into a fifth-floor beachside hotel -- missing a sleeping guest by several feet.

No one was injured in the shooting, which happened about 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Doubletree Hotel, 1665 State Road A1A near Indialantic.

Deputies searched the surrounding area but were not able to determine who fired the shot, Local 6 News partner Florida Today reported.

A hotel guest in room 511 told authorities that he was sleeping when he heard a sound.  The man, who was not hit by any of the debris from the bullet, then awoke, flipped on the light and noticed a hole in the shattered window, deputies said.

Investigators arrived and found the bullet lodged in a section of wall near the ceiling.
