Police: Teen leads chase in stolen 4-wheeler

Daniel Spaulding, 19, charged with grand theft, burglary

APOPKA, Fla. – Apopka police arrested a teen they say stole a four-wheeler from a home and led police on a chase before trying to ditch the vehicle and run away.

According to police reports, Daniel Spaulding, 19, took the four-wheeler that was parked outside of a shed at a home on Shopke-Lester Road at around noon on Thursday.

When the owner returned at 4 p.m. Thursday, he noticed the four-wheeler was gone and reported it missing, police said.

An officer in the area noticed the four-wheeler, described as 1998 green Yahama Grizzly with black rims on  Lester Road. According to the report, police tried to stop the driver, later identified as Spaulding, but he refused to stop.

Spaulding then led police on a pursuit until the road hit a dead-end, in which he jumped off the four-wheeler and tried to run away. Police caught Spaulding and charged him with burglary, grand theft and resisting an officer.

The four-wheeler was not damaged, according to the report, and is valued at $1,300.
