Woman dies after car hits bridge

FHP: Driver in serious condition


WILDWOOD, Fla. – A woman 65-year-old woman died Saturday after the car she was riding in hit a bridge and flipped over in Wildwood, Florida Highway Patrol said.

According to state troopers, a 73-year-old man was driving a Chevy Impala eastbound on State Road 44 just east of Walker Road. He exited southbound and hit a bridge railing. The Impala went airborne and flipped.

The man was taken to Shands Hospital in serious condition, and his 65-year-old female passenger was taken to Leesburg Regional Hospital where she died.

The accident is under investigation.
