Zimmerman, attorney meet on Saturday

Attorney said Zimmerman could be free this week

SANFORD, Fla. – George Zimmerman's attorney says his client will be out of jail by the middle of next week at the latest.

Local 6 got video of Zimmerman's attorney Mark O'Mara just after he met with his client at the Seminole County Jail.

O'Mara says Zimmerman is looking forward to his upcoming release.

"Now that he knows he can get out soon he has started focusing on getting out....he is certainly focused on moving forward," said O'Mara.

Local 6 has learned though several key factors are keeping Zimmerman from being released - mainly money.

O'Mara says that so far Zimmerman and his family have not been able to post a $15,000 dollar bond or come up with enough collateral to satisfy Zimmerman's $150,000 bail.

"He is not a family of much means obviously I think we all know that from the bond hearing," said O'Mara.

Once Zimmerman has the cash though he will still have to be fitted with a G.P.S. device.

O'Mara says he is also concerned about Zimmerman's safety.

The shooting death of Trayvon Martin has generated intense media coverage and outrage nationwide. O'Mara says he needs to be able to protect both Zimmerman and his family.

"I think there is still a lot of emotion wrapped around the case and I think that a lot of those emotions are still negative," said O'Mara

Zimmerman's impending release has angered members of the Martin Family. Through their attorney Benjamin Crump, Martins parents say they think Zimmerman should have to stay in jail.

"Why is everybody protecting George Zimmerman....this whole time it's been everybody protecting him....their son is dead," said Crump.
