Students pricked with lancet at Orlando elementary school

3rd-grader at Ridgewood Park Elementary School had tool, officials say

ORLANDO, Fla. – Four students were pricked with a lancet at an Orlando elementary school, prompting the school clinic to call 911, officials said.

The incident occurred Tuesday morning at Ridgewood Park Elementary School on Pioneer Road in Orange County.

Officials said a third-grade student had the lancet, and 13 students came in contact with it.  Four students pricked themselves with the lancet, a retractable needle often used by diabetics.

The four students who were pricked were taken by their parents for further evaluation.

It's not known how the third-grader obtained the lancet, and school officials continue to investigate the incident. The third-grader won't be disciplined, according to school officials.
