Son suffers non-life-threatening injuries in Orange City shooting
ORANGE CITY, Fla. – A man shot his son in the butt on Thursday in Orange City in a fight over another son living with them, police said.
Orange City police say Monroe Harvey Desaussure, 62, was fighting with his son, Ashton Desaussure, 31, at around 10:30 a.m. at a home off East Ohio Avenue, when he shot him.
Ashton Desaussure was taken to Halifax Health Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
According to reports, the fight was over whether his other son should return to live at the home on Thorpe Avenue. Ashton Desaussure didn't want his 37-year-old brother to live with him, but his father disagreed.
Desaussure was arrested and is charged with aggravated battery and aggravated assault with a firearm, deputies said.
