MARATHON, Fla. – A marine biologist in the Florida Keys had a close encounter with a massive shark.
WPLG-TV reports Dr. Neil Hammerschlag from the University of Miami was looking for sharks off the Keys on May 27 when he came across the beast you see in the picture above.

The bull shark weighed approximately 1,000 pounds.
Dr. Hammerschlag tagged and released the shark.
He said he has tagged thousands of sharks over the course of his career, but said this is the biggest one yet.
