DeLAND, Fla. – A man tried to rob two DeLand banks Monday afternoon but was refused by tellers at both businesses, according to police.
The man first entered the SunTrust bank at 302 E. New York Ave. around 4 p.m. before going to the TD Bank at 351 E. New York Ave.
In both cases, the man handed tellers a note demanding money, but they did not comply and he fled the banks, DeLand police said.
No weapon was seen or implied, and no one was injured, police said.
It's not known why the tellers refused to give the man any money, but police told Local 6 News that it's possible they did not feel threatened. Police said there have been previous cases where tellers refused a potential thief's demands.
Police released an image of the attempted robbery suspect, and anyone with information about his whereabouts is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 888-277-8477.
