Obese students may be more likely to struggle in school

University of Missouri conducts study

ORLANDO, Fla. – We all know that being overweight or obese can raise your risk of heart disease and stroke, but a new study finds it can also make children do worse in school.

According to researchers at the University of Missouri, kids who are obese got lower scores on math tests in first through fifth grades, compared to students who aren't obese.

Doctors say kids who are overweight are sadder, lonelier, and more anxious, factors that bring down their confidence and performance in school.
