Crews repair Sharpes Ferry Bridge

MARION COUNTY, Fla. – Crews began repairing the Sharpes Ferry Bridge Tuesday after its retaining walls were damaged by torrential rain.

Crews will be installing temporary barriers along the roadway in an effort to reopen the bridge to through traffic.

The damaged area is roughly a 250 foot long section where retaining walls, which hold dirt and other road structural materials in place, collapsed.

The Sharpes Ferry Bridge on County Road 314 was just recently completed in April.

It's unclear when the bridge will reopen.
